How to Download and Save a Chrome Extension as a CRX File?

If you are a super internet user then you have already heard about the extension. Extension is a very popular web tool. Extension simplify your online user experience. There are two popular platforms to download web extension First one is Chrome Web Store for Chrome users and the Second one is Firefox Add-ons for Firefox users. If you want to save extension as a file for offline install. You can not download extensions from either of these two platforms. So today I will tell you how to download extension as a CRX file. There are many ways to download extension but most of them are very long and confusing. I will tell you the short method,  No wasting time let get started.

Download and Save a Chrome Extension as a CRX File

If the extension is not installed on your pc.

Step1.

First, go to the web store here you can find a search bar, search here which extension you want to download For example I goto chrome web store and here you can see a search bar at the upper left corner.

Step2.

Click on the extension and goto the extension page from where you install the extension. Now just copy the URL of this web page.

Step3.

This step is very important if you do not do this then this method does not work. You can see a bell icon on my web page just click on this icon then a popup will come, now click continue button and then allow button. 😋 I am joking, please click this bell icon to get such latest update and connected with us.

    

Or

If the extension is already installed on your pc.

Step1.

Click on the three-dot placed at the upper right corner of your browser. 

Step2.

Now click on More tools option. Then click on Extention option.

Step3.

Now you can see all the extensions which you already installed. Just enable the Developer option placed at the upper right corner. Now you can see the app id below every extension. Copy this id which extension you went to download.

Final Step.

Now just go to a website called Chrome Extension Downloader. Paste this id or URL in here and click on the download extension button. The CRX file will be downloaded.
